Nate Newman serves as the Lawrence Professor of Solid State Sciences and is a faculty member in the Materials Program at Arizona State University. Prof. Kwang-Leong Choy (D.Phil., DSc, FIMMM, FISC) joined University College London in 2014 to take up the role of Director of UCL Institute for Materials Discovery. She has extensive experience in materials creation, discovery and exploitation of eco-friendly, cost-effective and sustainable thin films and nanomaterials processing technologies, especially for structural, functional and biomedical applications. She has published over 200 papers, including 2 books and 20 patents. She obtained her D.Phil in Materials Science from the University of Oxford, where she was awarded the Hetherington Prize and Oxford Metallurgical Society Award. She was a Violette and Samuel Glasstone Research Fellow at Oxford before joining Imperial College in 1994. She pioneered the innovative Electrostatic Spray Assisted Vapour Deposition (ESAVD) based methods, which have led to the Grunfeld Medal Prize by Institute of Materials (UK). Eugenio Zapata-Solvas has completed his Ph.D. studies on the role of grain boundaries in the plasticity of advanced ceramics at the University of Seville in 2008. Then, he carried out postdoctoral studies about physical and chemical properties of UHTCs at Imperial College London and about flash sintering of advanced ceramics at the University of Oxford. He was a research fellow for 3 years of the Materials Science Institute of Seville working on high temperature physical properties of UHTCs and new technologies for ceramics sintering. Since August 2015, he joined the Centre of Nuclear Engineering of Imperial College London as a Research Associate to work in MAX phases development for nuclear applications. Hiroyuki Serizawa obtained his Ph. D. from Osaka University at the age of 31. He is a research scientist at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency. Dr. habil. Yogendra Kumar Mishra is working as Group Leader at Functional Nanomaterials, Institute for Materials Science in University of Kiel, Germany, After Ph. D. in Sept, 2008 (Condensed Matter Physics - Plasmonics) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, he joined Functional Nanomaterials group as a visiting scientist and subsequently continued as Alexander von Humboldt Fellow (Feb. 2009 to Feb. 2011) in the group. Recently in 2015, he finished his Habilitation degree in Materials Science and currently leading a sub-group on 3D Nanomaterials at Functional Nanomaterials. In Kiel, he introduced a new fabrication technique known as 'Flame Transport Synthesis-FTS' which offers versatile nanostructuring of different metal oxides and their three-dimensional (3D) interconnected ceramic nano-networks. His main research focus is the growth of highly porous and mechanically flexible 3D interconnected materials built from ZnO nano- and microtetrapods by FTS approach which could be used as next generation 3D flexible semiconducting ceramic materials for potential technologies or as sacrificial templates for fabrication of new 3D nanomaterials including hybrids. His recent research developments include growth of carbon based ultra-light weight Aerographite material, Aerographite-GaN hybrid 3D networks, ZnO tetrapods network based devices, and SnO2 nanowire based stretchable ceramic materials for sensing, UV detection alongwith several other multifunctional applications. He has published more than 75 papers in high rank magazines. Agarwal is the William Palm Professor of Engineering and the director of Aerospace Engineering Program and Aerospace Research and Education Center at Washington University in St. Louis from 1994 to 200. He was the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University. Prior to joining the CSCR, he was Associate Professor of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, Faculté de Chirurgie Dentaire, Université de Strasbourg, France. He has worked at the WPI Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Japan, as an Assistant Professor. He has also worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), under the U.S. National Academies Associateship program. He received his Ph.D. in Biomaterials from the University of Madras. He has also undergone training in Ethical and Policy issues on Stem Cells from Harvard University, USA, and in Operations Management from the University of Illinois-Chicago. His current research interests are focused on the development of multiphase biomedical materials, through conventional to nanotechnology to biomimetic approaches, microfabrication, cell patterning, stem cell differentiation, tissue engineering and drug delivery.
