Biography
Edesia Sousa is a Scientific Researcher at the Nuclear Technology Development Center, CDTN – Brazil and a team leader of the Laboratory of Multifunctional Nanostructured Materials. She completed his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Federal University of Minas Gerais in the year 1990. In 1993 she received her MSc in Materials Engineering and in 1996 she obtained PhD in Materials Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais - Brazil. After obtaining PhD, she conducted research at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, as a postdoctoral research fellow. Dr Sousa's current research interests include Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, with emphasis on Ceramic Materials, working mainly on the following topics: silica mesoporous materials, hybrid systems, sol-gel process, boron nitride nanotubes, hydroxyapatite nanorods and magnetic nanoparticles for use as biomaterials for diagnosis and therapy.
